Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Push-Up Liner
I love the look and long-lasting wear of gel liner. However, sometimes I would like the convenience of being able to use gel liner without a brush. I know that I could use liquid eyeliners and pencil ones but I really do prefer gel. Liquid tends to have a shine to it that I don’t like and pencil can look chalky. That’s why I stick to gel. It doesn’t smudge, peel, fade, melt, etc.
When I heard about Benefit Cosmetics coming out with a new Gel Liner Pen, I was intrigued. I used the rest of my Birchbox points to get one from their website so I didn’t have to pay any of my own money for it. I really just wanted to try it out and see if I liked it.
The pen has a twist off top cap and a twist bottom to raise the gel liner to the AccuFlex tip. The tip has a nice angle for application and it bends to fit the curves of your eye.
I did a few test swatches of application on the back of my hand and I noticed that it applied thick and very pigmented in just one swipe.
Once I got the liner to get more of a clean line, I then applied it to my eye. I was able to get a nice line while applying but when I tried to smooth out the rough edges, I did have some trouble.
You can tell that the line is very rough and it tried my best to smooth it out with the tip of the pen but it didn’t really help. I don’t know if it’s because the gel is too dry or if there was a problem with my application.
Another thing that I noticed, it was incredibly difficult to remove. When I tried to clean off the back of my hand with a makeup removing wipe, I was still left with a few small black lines. When I tried to remove it from my eye, it was equally difficult.
These are just my first impressions of this product so far, but I will keep trying to make it work. I think that I might have to try a few other little tricks to see if I can get a better application.
