Scott + Steffi
While Scott and I were on our vacation in San Diego a few weeks ago, we got engaged! Now that the excitement and shock has kind of settled and it it all feels real, I am ready to share the story of Scott’s proposal with all of you.
Scott made sure to let me know he had made dinner reservations for our first night and it was going to be a surprise. He also told me that I had to dress up. I didn’t really think that he was up to anything unexpected because it’s actually quite normal for him to want to take me somewhere nice and romantic. It’s just the kind of man he is ;)
Once we were both dressed up and ready to go, he took me to Balboa Park. He had made dinner reservations for us at one of his favorite restaurants in San Diego, The Prado at Balboa Park. Which I would now consider to be one of my favorite restaurants as well. It’s special to us because we had our third date there when we first started dating last April.
Dinner was wonderful. Scott had the Thai Style Shrimp & Noodles and I had the Red Wine Braised Beef Short Ribs (so good). Then we shared a berry crumble for dessert. Our waiter was incredibly sweet to us and he even mentioned that Scott looked like Josh Hamilton from the Anaheim Angels.
After dinner, we walked over to the Lily Pond in front of the Bontanical Garden. One of our favorite spots in San Diego. I was so happy to see that they were done repairing the pond, with no more restrictive strings up, and they had brand new baby Koi fish in it. The Lily Pond is where Scott and I had our first kiss so I tried to find the exact spot that we were standing in when we kissed. After we reminisced and shared another kiss in our spot, Scott got down on one knee and proposed.
I can’t even begin to describe how shocked I was while I was looking into his eyes and seeing how excited and nervous he was. All I could think was, “Is this really happening?,”“What are you doing?!,”“OMG is that a ring in your hand?!,”“Are you sure?!” I could barely process what was happening.
I excitedly said “Yes!” and then I started crying. Then we asked a kind stranger to take a picture for us.
Scott tried to get my best friend, Nicole, to come out and videotape the proposal but she was not able to make it. I’m not disappointed at all though because I love that his proposal was a special moment that was just for us. I’ll never forget it.
We continued our walk around Balboa Park to just bask in the glow of our engagement bliss. I was still in shock and I could not stop staring at the beautiful ring he picked out for me. He never asked me or talked to me about rings so he had no clue what I wanted. He completely nailed it though. I love everything about the ring he chose for me and I love that he designed it himself.
We stopped by the Rose Garden to take a few more pictures before we left.
Isn’t it beautiful?! I can’t believe that I’m going to marry the man of my dreams..
